Earl’s Learn FI Directory

The intent of this directory is not to compile a long list of websites related to Financial Independence and personal finance. There are literally thousands out there. I do not want to write a phone book of internet bloggers, podcasters and youtubers who all talk about basically the same stuff. For statrers, it would be damn near impossible and would change as fast as you could finish it. New websites pop up daily.

My attempt here is to pass along to you the resources I find useful and still check in with to this day. Every source listed here has at one point or another impacted my overall philosophy of personal finance and taught me something.

I won’t post here anything I have not personally read, listened to watched, or used

Without further ado and in no particular order, here we go.

Financial Education Youtube channel

I am not quite sure how I first stumbled onto Jeremy at Financial Education but I listen to his videos at least a few times a week now. Jeremy offers his opinion on current events in the stock market and financial world.

Every year he puts out a video aimed at lessons for stock market beginners. Here is his video for 2020

Dave Ramsey

While I don’t always agree 100% with Dave Ramsey, I see him as a sincere person who is extremely knowledgeable and has your best interests at heart. He is spot on when it comes to utilizing your #1 wealth building tool (your income) to actually build wealth instead of buying crap that you don’t need.

I particularly enjoy their blogger confession series, and of course I was featured at one point which helps 😉

PPC Ian – dividend income guru

This guy has built up a portfolio of over 40 dividend paying stocks. if you want to learn how to generate an income through dividend investing, there is no better place to start.

Graham Stephan – Youthful real estate genius

If you are younger and looking for motivation on what is possible, I suggest you check out Graham Stephan’s youtube channel. Graham is a young self motivated, very driven individual who made a small fortune in real estate and then took to youtube to share his success stories.

Ryan Scribner – Youtube Money Guru

Ryan gives simple, practical and easy to follow advice related to personal finance (just like me). Below I have embeded a video of him discussing 5 things to do when you get paid. Simple, practical, and easy to follow.

Bankrate.com – Calculators Galore

By far my most used resource are the financial calculators at Bankrate.com. I am constantly plugging my numbers into their calculators, adjusting, and recalculating to see where I am at financially.

Their simple savings calculator and savings withdrawal calculator alone have helped me to not only understand what is possible but to set realistic financial goals and be able to achieve them.

I know it is much easier to watch yourube videos, but that alone won’t get you anywhere. You need to take an active role in your own financial success and you can start by using these 2 calculators to determine how much you could save, how much you can earn on those savings over time and how long the money will last as you slowly withdraw it over time.

Smart ideas for early retirement facebook group

If you are more comfortable accessing information via facebook, I can recommend the group Smart Ideas for Early Retirement. It is a private group that has over 10,000 members. The community is friendly and helpful and they even offer mentor-ships. You can find someone who has had similar experiences and you can ask them to mentor you. The community is full of people who have already been through the grind as well as those just going through it now and are looking for support and advice. I can’t say enough great things about this facebook group and I hope you check it out for yourself.

Personal Finance Blogs is a personal finance blog directory. If you follow @pfinanceblogs on twitter, you will be alerted every time they send out the newest articles they have chosen to feature. They do this every day and you can quickly peek through new content every day. You can also sign up for their mailing list to be alerted daily by email.

I hope you find these resources helpful. I will scheck in from time to time to update as I either remember sources I have used in the past or discover new ones.
